  1. A Scheduling and Routing Algorithm for DMFS Ring Layouts with Bus-phase Addressing Megha Gupta Srinivas Akella

  2. Digital Microfluidic Systems • Used for automated biochemical analysis performed by repeatedly moving, mixing, and splitting discrete nanoliter-sized droplets on a planar array of electrodes. • Advantages:Reduced equipment size, smaller amounts of reagents, scalability, reconfigurability and power reduction. • Problem Statement: Given a ring layout with bus-phase addressing, and a set of reactions, generate an electrode activation schedule to coordinate droplet routing such that the chemical analysis is completed without any inadvertent mixing.

  3. Results • Designed an algorithm for two classes of reactions: independent and chain reactions. • Works for modified ring layouts with multiple inner rings and mixers. Future Work • Optimization of completion time. • Performance evaluation with different phase assignments to assist chip design. • Modifications to handle other bus-phase layouts, continuous mode reactions.
