Structures - Male • Sperm • Reproductive cell (gamete) • Testes • Site of sperm development • Scrotum • Fleshy pouch that contains the testes • Helps maintain the optimal temperature for sperm production and development • Epididymis • Adjusts composition of fluid from seminiferous tubules and stores maturing sperm

Structures - Male • Ductus Deferens (Vas Deferens) • Passageway that carries sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct • Urethra • Passageway that has both urinary and reproductive functions • Accessory Glands • Secretions help form ejaculate (semen) • Seminal vesicles • Prostate gland • Cowper’s glands

  5. Structures - Male • Penis • Tubular organ that introduces semen into the vagina during sexual intercourse • Conducts urine to the exterior

Structures – Female • Ovaries • Production of ova • Secretion of female sex hormones • Uterine Tubes (Fallopian tubes, oviducts) • Passageway for eggs to move to the uterus • Site of fertilization • Uterus • Muscular chamber that provides protection and support for the developing embryo (weeks 1-8) and fetus (week 9 – delivery)
