However, unless data is matched to 2 or more orthogonal properties of an authentic chemical standard acquired in the same laboratory, compounds cannot be truly identified, so it is best to build your own spectral library.

  5. WHAT is IROA? HOW? (Isotopic Ratio Outlier Analysis) IROA is a simple and direct metabolic profiling technique. Internal Standards that have unique isotopic labels, specifically 95% and 5% U-13C, are used to improve metabolomic reproducibility and accuracy. The peak shapes are mathematically calculable and can be measured using mass spectrometry (MS). ClusterFinder software algorithms find, identify and quantitate these specific peaks. IROA can be applied to many life science applications (toxicology, diagnostics, drug development, bioprocess, etc.). IROA utilizes both pre-labeled complex Internal Standards for targeted or untargeted metabolomics and kits for generating specific Internal Standards tailored to experimental cell types, including bacterial, yeast and mammalian cell lines.
