Disney World is made up of several different theme parks that all have various rides and fun things to do for each member of the family. From this we can learn a few very strong leadership principles:
Keep the Excitement • Everyday is the same at Disney World, but different for each person who comes. The workers choose to do something for each family to have a lasting impression and a magical experience. • People don’t normally fall asleep at Disney World because there’s always something to do. • There are many attractions at Disney World that allow the family to participate which creates lasting memories for the whole family.
Expect the Unexpected • Sometimes at Disney World, they have to shut down a ride or 2 because of inclement weather, well the park has a plan all ready so that the rain doesn’t ruin any families’ special day. • On any given day, there’ll be a random birthday or anniversary and Disney World is prepared to roll out the Red Carpet.
Experiment with New Technology • Disney World is always updating their technology so that they can have the cutting edge to make their rides faster and safer. • “Some of the technology has taken the form of gathering voluntary information from a database of visitors so that a vacation plan can be tailored for their tastes when they call the Disney World reservation phone line.” – Al Weiss • “The new attractions that debuted this week at Walt Disney World include a motorsports stunt show at Disney-MGM Studios that originated at Disneyland Paris; a ride at Epcot that simulates hang gliding over California, copied from Disney's California Adventure park; a musical show at the Magic Kingdom that recreates Cinderella's coronation, imported from Tokyo Disneyland; and an animatronic dinosaur that roams Animal Kingdom. “ – USA Today
Disney World’s main goal is to “be the Most Magical Place on Earth.” Their clarified win is when one child smiles. • Each character at the Disney Theme Parks is there to aid in the main goal and therefore, they each play up their characteristics so that they can help accomplish the goal. • The Parks are all different but put them together and you allow for every family member, young or old, to experience fun their own way. • Even when people talk about Disney World, the excitement of the place is immediately felt and the purpose is clear.
Make Excellence a Top Priority • At Disney World, they have an underground level, where they are able to store trash so that the streets of Disney World are always clean and the garbage cans are never full. • This level also helps actors change costumes and gives workers time to have a break so that they return refreshed and ready for new families no matter what time they come to the park.
One thing that keeps families coming to Disney World, is that you can celebrate just about anything there. From Birthdays, to Weddings, Engagements to Retirements, Disney World is always being used to help celebrate something special about the people who come. • No matter how great or how small the occasion is, Disney makes a big deal about it, so that the family feels as though they’re the most important people in the park. • In honor of “the Year of A Million Dreams”, Disney is lowering their prices by giving certain deals for certain occasions and the money they would normally be making, they’re using it to help the “Make A Wish Foundation”.
