  3. What are typhoons? • Typhoons are located in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. • They are caused by tropical depressions in the South China Sea. • The maximum wind velocity must exceed 119 kilometers per hour.

  4. How are they created? (1) → Seawater heatedby sunlight causes rising air currents Water vapor in the sky cools and becomes cumulonimbus clouds.

  5. How are they created? (2) → Hot and humid air blows anti-clockwisenear the center of the depression. Clouds pile up and a typhoon develops.

  6. What to Prepare • Water • Food • Radio • Cell phone • Blanket • First aid kit • Flashlight • Batteries

  7. What to do during a Typhoon • Listen carefully to information about typhoons on TV and on the radio. • Do not go out • Close windows • Clear up outside the house

  8. What to do after the typhoon • Find shelter in a safe place • Beware of tidal waves • Listen carefully to information concerning the storm and possible flooding.
