  3. Oryctes rhinoceros • Coleoptera:Scaeabaeidae • common name: rhioceerus beetle/kumbangbadak@tanduk@tahi • major pest of oil palm and coconut • damage caused by adults • eggs lain in rotting organic materials • adults conseal during day time,evening fly to palms

  4. bores into crown of palms • feed on sap of soft tissue of developing shoots (pucuk) • symptoms: leaves emerge as typical fan-like-shaped (bentuk kipas) • control: • practise good sanitation (kebersihan),so no breeding sites • cover crops • manually removed the adults • 3% granular carbofuran
