  1. Connecting to MMU Wi-Fi

  2. 5 Wireless Networks • MMU-Student – for students • MMU-Staff – for staff • MMU-Guest – for guests – mainly contractors and those with IDs beginning with 45 • eduroam– allows students & staff from other organisations to use Wi-Fi at MMU by using their own institution’s login credentials • MMU-Visitor – available for Open Days only. Does not require an MMU account but uses PSK for authentication.

  3. Connect to the wireless network of your choice

  4. Enter login details

  5. Basic Troubleshooting This message is probably the most common.

  6. Likely causes: Username or password incorrect Fix: • Check your account details by trying to logon to a nearby wired PC • Make sure you are connecting to the correct network – for example, if you are a student you cannot connect to MMU-Staff

  7. Click on Open Network and Sharing Centre

  8. Double click on required wireless network

  9. Click on Securitytab

  10. Make sure Remember my credentials is not checked and then click on Settings

  11. Click on Configure…

  12. Make sure Automatically use my Windows logon name is not checked

  13. Unable to browse the Internet? Make sure the client set to DHCP!

  14. Click on Open Network and Sharing Centre

  15. Click on Change Adapter Settings

  16. Select Wireless Network Connection

  17. Click on Properties

  18. Select Internet Protocol Version 4

  19. Make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically is selected

  20. Remember: • You will be dealing mainly with people’s own devices • Do not make or suggest changes that you are unsure about • If in doubt contact 4646!
