  9. Recommendations • Suggest 3 (but submit only as required) • Allow writers of recommendations plenty of time • Offer activity sheets, “Brag Sheets” (optional)- very helpful • Guidance will send and keep copies • Write THANK YOU notes!!!!!

  10. ApplicationsIMPORTANT: YOU must submit application with fees, essay and SAT scores. WE will send transcripts, letters of recommendations, and secondary school forms as required. • Online- Application fees by credit card (sometimes waived online) • Mail - Application fee by check, money order • Common Application/supplement • Full and equal consideration • commonapp.org online or download/printed READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY WATCH DEADLINES KEEP COPIES

(www.commonapp.org) • Difference between Common App/Regular App • Forms • Send electronically (guidance) or print out (some teachers) • Opt in/opt out options - Need to know what teachers decide to do and let Guidance know • Secondary school report form- Guidance • Teacher recommendation form- Teacher • Make sure top filled out, print, and sign

  12. Our Deadlines We Celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas Break too!! Give us time (AT LEAST 2 WEEKS!)

  13. Deadlines • 198 seniors, on average sending out to 5 schools each, 4 counselors, 1 records keeper • Don’t wait till right before deadline- we can not guarantee we will get it out in time • Hand out of our deadlines -Very Important- • If you tell us too late we will not send it out on time.

  14. FAFSA Required for All schools and ALL types of aid Request Pin # immediately (electronic signature) File FAFSA after January 1st FINANCIAL AID NIGHT WILL BE IN DECEMBER!!! Date- to be determined CSS Profile In addition to FAFSA Not required by all schools Financial Aid
