Small group discussion: 4 of 9 countries Nepal: over 50 innovations and typology Uganda: innovation scoring sheet, static vs mobile, experimentation e.g. acaricide research into active ingredients, side effects and packaging Ghana: 3 formats for innovations, local innovations and innovators, synthesis of region specific innovations Ethiopia: panel for selecting innovative cases by host institution and issue PID grants, farmer-to-farmer extension programme Country reports

Partnering: work with committed people, provide incentives, ensure transparency M&E: an effective, simple, participatory system used by partners and innovators Mainstreaming: - gender balance in all aspects, gender criteria wrt innovations and innovators, gender-disaggregated data in M&E - awareness raising on impact of HIV/AIDS on agricultural development, and identify innovations that reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience of farm households Issues & priorities

PID: documentation as first step in a process, and continued capacity building in PID Curriculum devt: review curricula at Universities, sensitization of staff, resources mobilization, involve students PROLINNOVA and ‘regular’ work: relating its principles to mandate/philosophy of the organization, influence decision makers, align activities with available funding, and tap into organizations’ own resources Advocacy & lobbying: evidence-based policy advocacy, promoting the message behind PROLINNOVA i.e. bottom-up approaches in building networks, clarity on concepts/principles, organizing farmers as a ‘voice’ to influence policies, training by PELUM Issues & priorities (cont.)
