IDOT Job Titles • IDOT has two different types of positions • CMS Code Positions • Examples: Office Assistant, Office Associate, Highway Maintainer, etc. • These positions require a grade from CMS • Candidates should complete the CMS 100 application • IDOT Technical Positions • Examples: Technical Manager, Engineering Technician, Civil Engineer, etc. • These positions do NOT require a grade from CMS • Candidates should complete the IDOT Technical application (PM 1080 form)

IDOT Job Postings • IDOT Job Postings can be viewed on two different websites. • CMS Work 4 Illinois Homepage • http://work.illinois.gov/ • IDOT Homepage – “Current Vacancies” • http://www.dot.il.gov/techapp/vacancy.html • Each job posting provides instructions on how to apply for the respective position. • Type of application (i.e. CMS 100, PM 1080, etc.) • Deadline to apply • Where to submit the application

Temporary Employment Opportunities • IDOT has a Summer & Winter Technical Trainee Program • Winter Program: January 1st – May 15th • The agency generally posts these positions in November of the previous year • Summer Program: June 1st – December 15th • The agency generally posts these positions in April • Tech Trainees are considered Temporary Seasonal Employees. • Employees cannot become certified state employees under this title
