  1. Polymer 3D Printing Services Polymer 3D Printing Services • Additive manufacturing (AM) is an emerging 3D printing • technology that enables the design and rapid manufacturing • of materials with complex microstructures. ... Due to their • versatility and wide range of mechanical and chemical • properties, polymers are the most utilized materials for AM. Polymer 3D Printing

  2. Why Polymer is used in 3D Printing ?? • Polymer has versatility Properties, it having mechanical and chemical properties, because of that polymers are the most utilized materials for AM. • Polymers used for AM covers thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, polymers with incorporated fillers, biopolymers, and polymers blended with biological materials.

  3. 3D Printing General Process General scheme for the use of additive manufacturing processes, from the choice of material to the final product. The 3D printing of parts involves the use of a computer-assisted design software that generates a STL file format that is then sliced and formatted into gcode. The computer controls the stage and dispenser to generate materials with specific architectures, e.g. faced-centered tetragonal cushion using direct ink writing (a) and diamond structure using FDM (b).

  4. Polymers in 3D Printing Industry

  5. Polymers in 3D Printing Industry While there are a variety of commercially available polymers, not one polymer is inclusive and will give one the properties needed for a specific application. Furthermore, a single AM technique is not capable of printing any one individual polymer available in the market. The selection of material depends on the application and the customers’ needs. One must take into consideration the environment at which the part will be exposed and the properties required (e.g. temperature, mechanical load, humidity, chemical exposure, radiation, UV light), the process ability, 3D printing method, and availability.

  6. Polymer 3D Printing Selective Laser Sintering ( SLS) Stereolithography (SLA) Polyjet (PJ) Fused Deposition Modeling(FDM) Desktop FDM

  7. Selective Laser Sintering(SLS) SLS is a polymer 3D Printing technology used to manufacture functional and performance, end-use parts. The materials used in this technology are polyamide-12 grade materials and they come in powder form. Hence the parts have a grainy surface finish. The parts find applications in Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, Industrial goods and Medical Devices industries. SLS 3D Printing is the technology for low volume batch production runs in polymers.

  8. Stereolithography(SLA) Stereolithography (SLA) is the oldest 3D Printing technology used to manufacture aesthetically beautiful and proof of concept prototypes with smooth surface finish. We use photopolymer resins to manufacture the parts in SLA technology. The parts find applications in Automotive interiors, Industrial goods, Medical Devices industries etc.

  9. Polyjet(PJ) Polyjet (PJ) is a 3D Printing technology which uses binder jetting process. In Polyjet 3D Printing technology (Polymer 3D Printing PolyJet), we can manufacture parts having multi-material properties. That is, we can manufacture a flexible and a rigid material together in one single piece. Also, Polyjet technology (PJ 3D Printing) offers full-colormodels. Polyjet is used in applications where one needs highly detailed and dimensionally accurate models. However, the parts are not suitable for mechanical loading or trying conditions.

  10. Fused Deposition Modeling(FDM) Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is an extrusion based plastic 3D Printing technology that uses production-grade thermoplastics to manufacture strong and durable parts. The materials used in this technology come in filament form and the build chamber is thermally insulated which ensures superior mechanical properties as compared to the desktop version of this technology – Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) / Desktop FDM. The parts have a relatively rough surface finish and find applications in industries like Automotive, Aerospace, Defenceetc.

  11. Fused Deposition Modeling(FDM) Desktop FDM or Polymer 3D Printing Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF 3D Printing) is an extrusion based plastic 3D Printing technology that uses thermoplastics to manufacture cost-effective prototypes. The materials used in this technology come in filament form and the parts have a rough surface finish. Since it’s a desktop version of the Fused Deposition Moldeling (FDM) technology, the parts are not suited for critical mechanical applications; instead the parts are used for form and visual validation.
