  1. Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Program CPRA Meeting March 19, 2008

  2. LACPR Progress Report • USACE is currently coordinating with the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works on release of the Progress Report to Congress

  3. Draft Technical Report Contents • Maps and description of alternatives currently under consideration in the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) • Performance data based on evaluation metrics for all plans under consideration • Information for each Planning Unit is in tabular form • Stakeholder input used with the MCDA is discussed • Agency data used to present a comparison of plan rankings for each Planning Unit • Tentative plan for implementation and adaptive management for the comprehensive plan

  4. Technical Report Completion • Report transmitted to National Academy of Sciences on 10 March • A meeting scheduled with National Academy of Sciences on 3 April • Letter report will follow in 3 to 4 weeks later • Will respond to NAS and make necessary adjustments

  5. Technical Report Completion(con’t.) • Team working with Mobile District on a systems analysis • Continue stakeholder engagement with April and July meetings • Tabulate findings and rankings in September 2008 • Intend to have draft document ready for processing in December 2008

  6. Mississippi River Gulf Outlet • MRGO from GIWW to Gulf will be de-authorized when report is transmitted to Congress • Close coordination with CPRA Implementation Team (Non-Federal sponsor) • Anticipate completion of closure structure construction at Bayou La Loutre before June 2009 • Construction of the closure structure is coordinated with IHNC Lock repair • Anticipate follow-on ecosystem restoration plan for MRGO area (shoreline protection, marsh & island restoration, freshwater diversion at Violet, etc.)
