  3. What’s the Education Requirements? • A Ph. D is required for independent research • Depending on the type of work you will be pursuing, a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology will be required • In college, you would major in biology, as well as possibly minor in chemistry and physics

  4. The Location and Workplace(Nature of Work) • Depending on what you are working on, you could be out in the seas, or working in a laboratory or an office • If you are out at sea, you could be in any of the oceans, or seas and either on a boat, in the water, or both! • While working in a lab or office, you will see many microscopes and computers, as well as dangerous toxins and organisms

  6. Miscellaneous Info Main Tools used in Marine Biology: • Computers and specialized software • Microscopes • Photography Equipment including cameras • Scuba Diving Gear • Boats and other water mobiles

  7. Why does all of this matter? • Marine Biologists are the people who give us information about marine life and about the entire planet • With Marine Biology, we can understand • Pollution • Climate Change • Alternate Energy Sources • Human Health ( such as air availability)
