  11. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” We are often tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time; Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine; In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away, We will understand it better by and by.

  12. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” By and by, when the morning comes, When the saints of God are gathered home, We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome, For we’ll understand it better by and by.

  13. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” We are often destitute of the things that life demands, Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands; We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God’s Word, We will understand it better by and by.

  14. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” By and by, when the morning comes, When the saints of God are gathered home, We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome, For we’ll understand it better by and by.

  15. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand All the ways that God could lead us to that blessèd promised land; But He guides us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die, For we’ll understand it better by and by.

  16. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” By and by, when the morning comes, When the saints of God are gathered home, We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome, For we’ll understand it better by and by.

  17. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares, And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed; And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best, But we’ll understand it better by and by.

  18. “We’ll Understand it Better By and By” By and by, when the morning comes, When the saints of God are gathered home, We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome, For we’ll understand it better by and by.

  30. Genesis 37:3, NKJV 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors.

  31. Sermonic Title “My Father Has Made a Coat For Me”

  32. I. A gift developed because of love. A. Israel formerly known as Jacob loves Joseph above his other children because he is the son of his old age. B. Israel formerly known as Jacob loves with an active love that compels him to give and sow into the life of the child he loves.

  33. II. A gift fashioned by hand and tailored specifically with Joseph in mind A. Jacob utilized his skill to craft the coat. B. The "kethoneth" fit Joseph from head to toe.

  34. III. A gift that denotes where Joseph is headed not where he is. A. "Many Colors" can mean patched, silken or literally multi-colored, therefore the tunic or coat was elaborate and not practical for a boy working as a shepherd. B. Joseph's coat, the term "kethoneth" used in II. Samuel 13:18 in reference to King David's daughter Tamar, suggests this type of robe, tunic or coat was a garment reserved for royalty.

  35. My Father Has Made a Coat For Me The coat of Joseph was an: 1. Indicator of Love 2. Instrument of Covering 3. Identifier of Royalty

  36. Isaiah 61: 10, NKJV 10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

  37. Revelation 7:14, NKJV 14 And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
