  2. 31 – 35 • Summon – is to call for or send for. Second meaning is appearing before a court. • Typically – Regularly, Routinely, Usually • Procrastinate – means to delay or to put off something. • Distraction – something that takes your attention from one place to another • Emerge – is to come out of. Emerge from Einstein’s mind or emerge from the swimming pool • Do Brain tickler # 9 – find the opposite word in meaning

  3. 36 – 40 • Dismayed – means to be discouraged. Use with endure. I was dismayed but I have to endure. • Critical – serious judgment, or a decisive/important time. Or someone who finds fault in others. • Aloof – to be distant or emotionally uninvolved. (He seems popular and his network big, but he doesn’t get close relationships because he is aloof) • Loathe – it means to hate something. • Essential – absolutely necessary. Food and water are essential for humans to survive. • Do Brain Tickler # 10 Find the word that describes person, animal, or thing in each example (5 minutes)

  4. 41 – 45 • Revise – means to revisit with your eyes – to go back and see. • Ponder – we already covered this – what is it? • Complex – Something that has many sides or difficult to understand. • Determine – to reach a decision after some thought. To make a decision and be strong about it. • Seldom – adverb --- What is a adverb again, a verb, every time you use this word, you put it in front of a verb. • Do Brain Tickler # 11 Find the word, closest to your word.

  5. Read, read, read some more • Read material you enjoy – what do you enjoy reading in English? • Read material that you find comfortable. Choose anything that you can read – even comic books or cartoons • Try to increase your reading time gradually. • Read on the internet • Don’t read because you have to. Read when you feel like it. • Do Brain Tickler 12. Next class 45 – 60 and there will be a test next class. (For all students taking more then one course, I’m sorry but I will make a separate test for each class.
