  4. Employment • Agriculture is the largest industry in the United States and even the world. • It is believed that about 20-25% of nations workforce is employed in agriculture. • With high advancements in Ag mechanics, a farmer can produce enough food and fiber for 115 people. • It also made it possible for 2% of the population to produce enough food for the country.

  5. Advancements in agriculture • These have had the greatest impact on society. • Cotton gin- Created by Eli Whitney, 1793

  9. Tractor- Benjamin Holt, 1904 • Ran off of steam.

  10. Careers In Ag mechanics • Electrician • Tradesman specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, stationary machines and related equipment

  11. Machinery and Equipment specialist • Must be able to know about certain the machinery and equipment • Be able to provide information to customers about machine or equipment.

  12. Soil Technician • are science technicians that monitor, regulate and research soil in the United States.

  13. Ecology Technician • Perform laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution, including those that affect health, under the direction of an environmental scientist, engineer, or other specialist. May collect samples of gases, soil, water, and other materials for testing.

  14. Tractor Mechanic • Tractor is running properly, and fix tractor when needed.
