  1. Top Challenges for Companies while Hiring Full Stack Developers Full-stack developers are multi-skilled developers, who handle both aspects of the software development process. These developers have profound knowledge and understanding of languages, frameworks, and architecture compared to other developers. According to a survey conducted by Indeed, the demand for full-stack developers in the U.S. increased by 206% from 2015 to 2018. As per LinkedIn's 2020 emerging jobs report, there is 35% annual growth in the full-stack engineering jobs. However, one needs to understand that full-stack developers’ jobs are varied and require unique distributions of talent and expertise depending on the specific role. Thus, assessing and hiring full-stack developers becomes incredibly difficult. It is often seen, recruiters while hiring full-stack developers assessed developers who operate across the frontend and backend. Whereas, in reality, full-stack developers have specialized skills on the front or backend along with familiarity with the other components of building an application. Therefore, companies need to carry out customized assessments for the full-stack developers, based on their skills and their requirements.

  2. Challenges Experienced while Hiring Full-Stack Developers Companies while hiring full-stack developers need to understand that there is no one-size- fits-all approach. It is seen that hiring managers who don't have a software background fail to understand the skills that are essential for a full-stack developer. Some of the challenges that companies face while hiring full-stack developers include: •It is commonly seen that companies or hiring managers do not have an idea about the skills of a full-stack developer, thus making it challenging for them to make the right recruitment decisions. Companies often think that a full-stack developer is familiar with both front-end and back-end and they often overlook the candidate's in-depth knowledge in other programming areas. Thus, lack of hiring expertise leads to wrong hiring. •Often the hiring manager is not aware of the exact profile of a full-stack developer which they have to hire. For instance, whether they require a mean stack developer, a LAMP stack developer, a Django stack developer, they are not clear about it and so they hire an unskilled or inexperienced candidate. •Companies while hiring full-stack developers often take the shortcut approach to quicken the hiring process. They often fail to realize that without taking the specialized tests they cannot assess candidates' talents, strengths, and weaknesses. Companies simply can't hire a full-stack developer without knowing about their technical potential. Technical assessment is the best and accurate way to verify their accomplishments. •Since full-stack development touches on the full spectrum of application development, ranging from the back-end to the user-facing front-end, so companies while hiring full-stack developers need to judge the proficiency of the candidate by asking them to build an entire application from scratch. As a result, a full-stack assignment can continue for hours, days, or even weeks, thereby posing difficulties in the hiring process of the companies. Before hiring full-stack developers, companies should know about the array of skills required by the developer to execute their task and based on those requirements should build an assessment that tests the right combination of those skills in the candidates so that they can aptly review them to recruit the best full-stack developer as per their need.
