Results • Cut scores set by subtest at fifth percentile of 210 CVN ATCS in training • Because 95% of people see color in the same way • 13.9% fail one subtest on first attempt • All who retested passed on second attempt • Tested 50 CVD subjects • 22% pass all subtests on first attempt • 32% pass on second attempt • Limited deployment began in July • 6 of 7 who failed clinical screening passed ATCOV • We can clear CVD candidates who can discriminate critical functions on critical displays

Summary • Color is increasingly used to communicate information; controllers must discriminate critical functions on critical displays • Office of Aerospace Medicine maintains standards, clears controllers • Aerospace Human Factors Division tasked to develop valid occupational test; accomplished • Continuing research focuses on precisely documenting required perceptual ability today, propose standards for future displays
