Project Overview • Business Objectives • Alignment of Billing and Electronic Health Record (BEHR) toward meaningful use as defined by the HITECH Act. • Increase functionality and workflow of BEHR in order to prepare for interfacing with the state laboratory division’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the New Mexico Statewide Immunization Information System (NMSIIS) as well as private laboratories. • Increase revenue recovery by enhancing electronic claiming from BEHR. • Train all public health office staff on new version of BEHR. • Technical Objectives • Create requirement and configuration documents. • Implement upgraded EHR application in test environment. • Develop test plan and scripts. Execute test scripts in test environment. Track and fix defects. • Upgrade BEHR EHR application in production.

  3. Project Highlights • Funds requested for this certification: $0 • Project Phase Certification Request: Close-out • Project Start Date: July 2010 • Project End Date: July 2011 • Total project value: $200,000 • Total expended to date: $187,030

  4. Completed Implementation Phase Activities • Conversion from v10 to v11 test system • System configuration to DOH requirements • Training of superusers and all clinical test users including training materials • Testing and confirmation of DOH v11 configuration • Go live of all public health offices on v11 • All vendor deliverables accepted and invoiced • Lessons learned

  5. Lessons Learned • Remote training of 150 users can be done with proper planning and technology • Executive commitment and resources are required for successful execution of project • Early and timely procurement of resources is key to on time completion
