  1. GWS Drama Production ofThe Sound of Music Students, Parents , and Teachers working together To create something that will become one of “Their Favorite Things” Parent Information Meeting DECEMBER 9 & 11, 2013

  2. Meet the Directors • Maureen Shea-Florer Production Director • Lily Grant Music /Production Director • Barbara Willen Production Manager

  3. PRODUCTION DATES Thursday~Friday~Saturday March 20, March 21, and March 22 Performance Time 7:00 P.M.

  4. DRAMA WEBSITE All rehearsals, bulletins and notices will be posted on the Drama Website. Navigation is easy! Go to GWS homepage. Click on Activities in the upper banner. Click on Drama.

  5. PRODUCTION WEEK Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday prior to opening night are reserved for Dress Rehearsals. These 3 rehearsals will run until 6:00 for all cast members. Please plan accordingly. NOTE: There will be no rehearsal on the Thursday that is opening night.

  6. Special Rehearsals For Full Cast Saturday, March 8 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, March 14 After school until 6:30 p.m.

  7. TICKET SALE PROCESS Tickets will go on sale in early February. There will be 2 rounds of ticket sales. The first round of ticket sales will allow family and friends of the cast and crew to purchase a designated number of tickets prior to the opening of sales to the rest of the student population and general public. A letter will go home to all cast and crew detailing the process. A second letter will follow to all students for Round 2.

  8. OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER iPads will be coming around the room. You will need to fill out the Google Survey and submit your answers: NAME~PHONE~E-MAIL~SKILL/APPRENTICE DEGREE OF INVOLVEMENT

  9. SET CONSTRUCTION • We need a Lead person in this area. • Some of our sets will need to be modified, while others may need to be built. • We are also in need of someone willing to take on the role of “Material Gatherer” • De-Construction - we need a ‘strike the set crew’ and someone with a truck to help bring it back to the ‘barn’ • Of course, we need workers!

  10. SET PAINTING • We would love to have a Lead person in this area. • Many of the details will be drawn and will need a ‘paint by number’ crew • Painting Crew Artists will be necessary this year, as we have no artist on board. • We are also in need of someone willing to take on the role of “Material Gatherer” for paints and supplies. • Of course, we need helpers!

  11. COSTUMES • We need a Lead person in this area to work with the coordination of each COSTUME division. • Each major group of actors will require a costume parent…there will be 5 in all. • There are MANY costumes in storage for your creative shopping.

  12. PLAYBILL and PLAYBILL ADS • We need ONE person to use a preset Publisher program to design the Playbill. All info and past programs are made available. • It is important that we sell ads this year (as we have in past years) to support the production needs. TWO+ people to reach out to community businesses and coordinate family ads are needed.

  14. SATURDAY ALL-HANDS-ON-DECK DAYS • January 25, 2014 8:45-12:45 This is an adults-only event. Calling all Two Hour Power Volunteers! • February 8, 2014 8:45-12:45 • March 1, 2014 8:45-12:45 This is for parents and supervised students. Calling all Two Hour Power Volunteers and their GWS child!

  15. ENSEMBLE ROLES • Students who are in the ensemble will be asked to select one of three possible roles at their cast meeting on Dec. 16 or 17: • Dancers: Party Guests/Festival Audience (rehearse on Wednesdays) • Non–dancers: Party Guests/Festival Audience (rehearse on Wednesdays) • Nuns (rehearse on Tuesdays and Fridays) **We ask students and parents to please consider scheduling information when choosing their role**
