  2. Born in Los Angeles Andre Young – “Dr Dre” Founded NWA with Centennial High School friends in Compton CA. Stepbrother is Warren Griffin – “Warren G” Warren G also becomes a successful rapper Dr Dre is a member of NWA from 1986-1991 He quits NWA at the height of their popularity because of a feud with Ice Cube Dre’s History

  3. “The Chronic” (1992-95) • Dr. Dre and bodyguard Shug Knight create “Death Row Records” (recording and producing artists) • Dr. Dre meets up and coming rapper “Snoop Dog” through his stepbrother “Warren G”. - The two team up and create one of the most popular hip hop album of all time. -”The Chronic”

  4. Dr.Dre - Producer • Dr. Dre produces Snoop Dogg’s first album “Doggy style” • The album is the first debut album to be #1 on the Billboard 200 album charts

  5. Death Row Records signs 2Pac in 1995, making 2Pac the major star on the label Dre leaves Death Row Records and partner Shug Knight because Shug was “out of control and financially dishonest” Moving On… 2PAC Shug

  6. Aftermath Entertainment • Dre launches a new label titled “Aftermath Entertainment” • The turning point for Dre was the signing of a Detroit white rapper Marshall Mathers – “Eminem”

  7. Focus on Producing • In 2001 Dre focuses his attention on producing albums • He has produced albums for Mary J Blige, No Doubt, 50 Cent, The Game and countless others.
