  2. In certain cases it is better to negotiate a resolution to the charge. These negotiations can result in lesser offences being pled to or positions for lesser sentences on the offences already charged.

  3. One of the strategies for successful resolution talks is a thorough analysis of the case such that potential defences can be flagged for the prosecution, where appropriate, such that they have reason to question the strength of their case.
