Heat Roadmap Europe • An elaborated vision for the future heat supply to European district heating systems (inspired by the Heat Plan Denmark project • Part of the overall future concept based on fourth generation of district heating systems • Many EU and other future projections concerning the energy system do not consider the possibilities with district heating systems • Do they model district heating properly? Heat Roadmap Europe • Originally an idea put forward at the EHP board seminar in June 2010 • Application process started for the IEE May 2011 deadline, but no application was submitted • Pre-study performed by the Aalborg and Halmstad Universities between January and April 2012. • Next application possibility: IEE deadline of May 8, 2012 DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
Pre-study contents • Policy scenario (the EC 2030 trend report chosen, since the EC 2050 roadmap lacks detailed info so far) • Heat Roadmap scenario • Comparision of the Policy and heat Roadmap scenarios for 2030 and 2050 • Conclusions DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
Pre-study contents • General methodology according to the Aalborg University experiences (told by David Connolly) DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
Pre-study contents Heat Roadmap scenario: • Gathering info about local conditions in the NUTS2 or NUTS3 regions as possibilities for excess heat recovery • Estimating heat demands in the same regions • Identifying 10 hot spots where the excess heat recovery possibilities are high compared to the heat demands DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
Pre-study contents Heat Roadmap scenario: • Identifying existing district heating systems in the hot spot regions DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
Pre-study contents Heat Roadmap scenario: • All urban settlements have a district heating possibility DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
2011 Application outline DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
2011 Application outline Case studies proposed: • Emerging country: United Kingdom • Expansion country: France or Germany • Consolidation country: Denmark, by utilising Heat Plan Denmark • Refurbishing country: Poland DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
2012 Application • Suitable for the IEE 2012 call for proposals? • How to harmonise our ideas with the 2012 call for proposals? • Who can take the coordinator role both for the application and the project? • Any new ideas? DHC+, Brussels Jan 24, 2012
