  1. MOMENTUM Unit Portfolio Presentation Sidra tul Muntiha Zahid

  2. Unit Summary • The student will be given the task of finding collision in daily life. • Two groups will be designed • They will observe the games such as cricket, snooker etc. • The other group will study road accidents and battleships. • They will study behavior of objects effect of their mass and velocity. • They will collect information from internet and science journals. • Both groups will give the presentation which will explain momentum and law of conservation of momentum.

  3. Curriculum-Framing Questions • Essential Question What is the importance of science in our life? • Unit QuestionsHow physics play a role in our life? Why were cannons mounted on wheels instead of deck? • Content QuestionsDefine velocity? Diff between mass and weight? What is the effect of mass on velocity? Define momentum? What is impulse? What is relation between force and momentum? What are the units of momentum? Explain the momentum in cricket? State law of conservation of momentum? Give examples of momentum from daily life?

  4. MOMENTUM This project will help my students develop 21st century skills by: • Observing different games. • Analyzing data about collisions and drawing conclusions to answer Unit Questions • Solving problems and making decisions about their experiment. • Communicate with others.

  5. Gauging Student Needs Assessment • Purpose of the Assessment • To collect information about what students already know and what they wonder about games and collisions in life. • What I want to learn from my students? • I want to find out what they already know about the Unit Questions. • How I have tried to promote higher-order thinking? • I ask students to watch games like cricket or snooker and draw conclusions about collisions. • How the assessment information helps me and my students plan for upcoming activities in the unit? • The students have different levels of understanding about the collisions, I can provide various resources like books and internet. We will revisit this assessment throughout the unit for students to add their knowledge. • What feedback or additional ideas I’d like? • I would like comments and new ideas about my assessment..

  6. My Goals for the Course • Find ways to get my students more interested in learning science (physics) • Learn about different kinds of technology my students and I can use • Share ideas with other teachers

  7. Goals for My Students • To learn how scientists collect and think about data • To become more independent learners • Apply laws of physics in daily life

  8. Request for Feedback • Places I could find a classroom in a different climate for my students to work with • Ideas for helping students take more responsibility for their own learning
