Monroe @ Lake Ella) • North Monroe Street Design and Safety Study • East Sixth Avenue Sidewalk Project • Other Agency Efforts • Sense of Place • Frenchtown/Southside Redevelopment Area • Downtown Redevelopment Area/ Pedestrian Connectivity Plan

  3. Study Area • Monroe Street Access Management • From just south of Magnolia Drive • To John Knox Road • Lake Ella Median Implementation • From Tharpe Avenue • To E. 7th Avenue

  4. Study Tasks • Data Collection and GIS • Assessment of Existing Conditions • Coordination • State & Local Agencies • Public & Private Stakeholders • Access Management Research • Public Involvement • Lake Ella Implementation • Development of Corridor Action Plan

Study Tasks • Coordination • The Project Team will meet monthly and includes: • Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) representatives • COT Public Works • Downtown Improvement Authority • Neighborhood Associations • Midtown Business Association • StarMetro • Tallahassee/Leon County Planning / PLACE Staff • Close coordination with FDOT Safety and Operations

Study Tasks • Public/Stakeholder Involvement • Open House Public Meetings • Focused Smaller Group Meetings • Information gathering and education • Access Management Research • Actual case studies of before and after results • Expectations vs. reality particularly from the business standpoint • Safety and capacity impacts

  7. Study Tasks • Lake Ella Implementation Study • Builds on of FSU Design Studio • Possible Alternatives include: signage, median implementation, crosswalks, flashing lights, or pedestrian activated signal • Coordination with FDOT will be extensive • Public involvement will include small group meetings and public open houses

  10. Next Steps • Attend Project Team meeting • Complete existing conditions analysis • Complete crash analysis • Hold first coordination meeting with FDOT • Hold first set of public meetings (Spring 2012)
