  3. When eating out • Americans spend more than $100 billion on fast food each year • Choose main dishes that include vegetables • Ask for whole-wheat bread on sandwiches • Drink plenty of water before your meal

  4. Things you don’t know about the food you consume • More than 1 billion tons of pesticide products are used each year in the United States alone, many of which are directly sprayed on our food. Pesticides have been linked to a variety of cancers and higher rates of birth defects

  5. We consume an average of 156 poundsof sugar every year • Genetically modified foods are found in up to 80% of packaged foods in the United States. A Russian study concluded that after three generations of eating GM feed hamsters lost their ability to reproduce and some even had a rare disorder of hair growing in their mouths

  6. Exercising • It is important to exercise for 30-60 minutes a day • Working out boosts energy • Exercising also helps control weight • Working out makes sleep easier
