A full campaign cycle… • You will play one of these roles: -A candidate, or member of the candidate’s team -Member of the media -Interest group leader -Party leadership • Each team or individual will complete 5 tasks
Candidate Teams • Two Democrats, Two Republicans • Each candidate team will consist of the candidate, a manager, and a researcher. • Among other tasks, candidate teams will prepare for an issues debate (two if you win the primary) in which they will field issues from the media.
Media • Cable news outlet • Local TV news • Conservative blog • Liberal blog • Prominent newspaper • You will file stories about the election, including coverage of a breaking scandal
Interest Groups • National Rifle Association • NARAL Pro Choice America • SEIU • American Conservative Union • As spokesperson, manager or researcher you will represent one of the above interests and back a candidate favorable to your cause. • You’ll create your own candidate publicity and work to turn out supporters for your candidate.
Party Leadership • As national chairperson or manager, you will shape a party platform designed to woo voters to your candidate. • You’ll work to have the strongest party candidate emerge from the primary and provide support and strategy in the general election.
There will be a winner! • If you run a good campaign, you will “score” a higher favorability rating and may be declared the winner. • Every group will have an impact on how the election turns out.
