  4. Professional Learning ESSA regulations are that a local educational agency shall meaningfully consult with teachers to develop its yearly application to the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). So, what does this mean to you in an LEA?

Professional Learning • Each district must submit its first yearly application THIS SUMMER (ADE prefers in July, with an Oct. 1 deadline), for Title II funds. • What the reality is • Flexibility built into the timeline • Amendments made after the deadline • Plans are made before the funds are typically transferred

Professional Learning • How can the money be spent? • Develop and implement initiatives to assist in recruiting, hiring, and retaining effective teachers • Provide high-quality personalized PD • Effectively integrate technology into curriculum and instruction • Use data to improve student achievement • Provide training, technical assistance, and capacity building in LEAs to assist educators with selecting and implementing formative assessments, designing classroom based assessments, and use data from such assessment to improve instruction and student achievement
