IICSAM provides the best hair transplant training in India with a 3- month long course focussing on all types of hair restoration surgery techniques. What is a Hair Transplant? A hair transplant is an advanced from of hair loss treatment. It is most suitable for people suffering from androgenetic alopecia. In this procedure, hair is collected from the part of the scalp that’s not affected by the hair loss condition and then transplanted to the balding regions. This technique is an ideal solution for a receding hairline or thinning crown area. Surgically speaking, individual hair follicles are removed from the donor part of the scalp and then implanted onto the recipient area. In most cases, the donor area refers to the back of the head or the two sides of the head. In certain special cases, donor hair may also be collected from other parts of the body. The recipient area is the part of the scalp that’s already inflicted by the hair loss condition and facing hair thinning or baldness. In hair transplant training courses, the curriculum includes the various techniques of performing a hair transplant surgery. Broadly classified, there are two types of hair transplant methods: FUE and FUT. FUE Hair Transplant This is known as the Follicular Unit Extraction method. In this technique, individual hair follicles are extracted directly from the donor area of the scalp. There is no cut or incision made. A low-torque, low-RPM FUE machine is used to carefully extract the hair follicles one by one from the scalp. A group of 1 to 4 follicular units are extracted together to form a hair graft. Once the extraction is done, tiny slits are made on the scalp’s recipient area. The hair grafts are then implanted into these tiny holes on the scalp to complete the transplant procedure. The FUE transplant technique is more popular because they involve no stitches, cause minimal scarring, and have a quicker recovery period. FUT Hair Transplant This is known as the Follicular Unit Transplantation method. In this technique, an entire strip of hair is removed from the scalp. The hair follicles are collected externally from the strip and stored in a solution. Hair grafts are prepared and then implanted onto the recipient area of the scalp. Removing the strip of hair causes a long and narrow cut on the scalp which is then sutured using a Trichophytic closure. This results in visible scarring. But once the hair grows back to normal length, the scar gets easily camouflaged. Since the FUT hair transplant technique involves stitches, it needs a longer recovery period.

  3. Conclusion Both FUE and FUT hair transplant methods have their own advantages. The doctor decides which technique is more suitable for a patient depending on their level of hair loss and their hair texture and density. A capable surgeon must be skilled in both these procedures. If you’re a MBBS graduate or above, then enroll for the best hair transplant training in India at IICSAM.
