PROSTI MESTI ZA RAZISKOVALNO DELO NA PODROČJU PLAZME IN FUZIJE Garching, 06.09.2006 The Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik in Garching offers two positions in the framework of the EuropeanFusion Training Scheme. The positions are for the EnTicE (European network for Training ion cyclotron Engineers) project, a Training Scheme on Plasma Heating for Fusion Applications. One position is for an Early-Stage Engineer / Researcher (ESR) (code number 31/06) and one position for an Experienced Engineer / Researcher (EXR) (code number 32/06) The ESR candidate is expected to have a university degree in Mechanical, ElectricalEngineering or Physics Engineering. The candidate should have less than 4 yearprofessional experience since obtaining the degree. The EXR candidate is expected to have a university degree in Mechanical, ElectricalEngineering or Engineering Physics with at least 4 years of experience or a doctoral degree in those disciplines. Good command of English, both written and spoken is required. Knowledge of German is an advantage. The candidates will be attached to the ICRF Group of the Technology Division of the Max-Planck Institut für Plasmaphysik (IPP) in Garching near Munich.The candidates will, within the training programme, be involved in exchanges with other European scientific organization (research institutes and universities) and industry. The activities will focus on the development of novel detection systems for high voltage arcs and/or the development of steady state component for high power RF systems, but the aim is to provide the candidates the possibility to acquire a unique expertise in the field of fusion engineering with good career perspectives in the fusion community. The positions are granted for 3 years. The monthly income is in accordance with EU grants for young researchers and is approximately for the ESR 2600 € and for the EXR approximately 3800 €. The IPP seeks to increase the number of women and therefore explicitly encourageswomen to apply. The IPP is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply.
