Background • Lund’s grill division originally started in 1995 as Trenz, locally owned and operated in Bakersfield • Trenz operated as one of the largest manufacturer of aluminum automotive accessories • Went bankrupt in 2004 due to poor management, NOT SALES. • Lund purchased Trenz in 2004 as an expansion opportunity to add to its expansive line of automotive accessories already sold.

  3. Problem Statement • Examined Lund’s new product development process • Toured productions facility • Identified key process “weak links” currently in implementation • Recognized areas of immediate process alterations, and techniques of execution.

  4. Current Situation • Deadlines are not being met • KBM not in effect • Inefficiencies between departments • Lack of consistency in processes

Lund calls the grill division with order quantity Determine Vehicle model/year for grill design Identify grill styles & points of measurement Perform Measurements Determine mounting method & merge into design Fit up first test cut and take measurements Import CAD data & design first test cut Measure grill openings NO Does test cut fit?
