INTRODUCTION • Temperature is important properties in engineering. • When we design product temperature is to be concerned. • Thermocouples are one of many temperature sensors. • Thermocouples can sensor temperature in wide range
OBJECTIVE • To calibrate thermocouples type J K T.
Principle of Calibration
Input from calibrator (Temperature) Thermocouple Transducer Output (Voltage)
DATA REDUCTION DIAGRAM emf = V (∆T, M ;Tref ) emf = voltage (millivolt) Tmea = Temperature measurement(˚C) Tref = Temperature reference (˚C) M = Type of Thermocouples (J K T) ∆T = Tmea - Tref (˚C)

Experiment Approach Equipments • Thermocouples type J K T • with an extension wire • Temperature-Control Bath • Multimeter • Ice • water • a bucket • Thermometer Hg type
METHODOLOGY • Put ice and water into a bucket in purpose for equilibrium system which is temperature at 0⁰C. • Open the Temperature-Control bath and set the initial temperature for J K T type respectively. • Set Multi-meter to measure voltage (mV). • Set J type thermocouple with extension wire then do the same with the others. • Collect data from multimeter. • Increase temperature 3⁰C for every measurement. • Plot chart between Temperature and Voltage. • 8. Find the calibration curve.
Total Uncertainty Bias Precision Regression method
Bias Measurement Equipment • Calibrator • Multimeter • Thermometer Hg type Bias = 0.02๐c
Discussion • Calibration curve of thermocouples type J K T are about the same to reference calibration curve.
Find and Compare the specific values of the three types of Thermo Couples • Including • Linearity • -Resolution • -Sensitivity • -R-Square
Celsius Degree/mV mV/celcius Degree Celsius Degree/mV mV/celcius Degree Celsius Degree/mV mV/celcius Degree
mV/ °C mV/ °C mV/ °C
We can also do the same experiment by MS/ST. • Precisionfrom MS/ST is more than SS/ST but less than bias.
Conclusion • -get calibration curve • -can use it to measure Temperature • -Know the specific values of each types • -can choose themo- couple to work
