  4. Characteristics • Has pores • Lives in water • Sessile • Gets food through filter feeding • Live for thousands of years • Reproduce asexually • All are hollow • Doesn’t have organs • Eat nutrients and plankton from the water • Some sponges produce compounds used for medicine

  5. What is poriferra ? Poriferra is anything that attaches to a solid object in the water and has a sponge like tissue

  6. Effects of poriferra Many sponges are harmless, but there are some when you come into contact with thim there will produce a severe irritating sensation.
