  2. ISSUES • From the beginning, aids in Africa was considered as heterosexual • Few years ago, studies suggested increasing HIV prevalence amongst African MSM

  3. DESCRIPTION Africagay against aids started in 2007 = 2 gay and 11 HIV organisation in French-speaking Africa

  4. Today, 14 organisations have formally joined the Africagay against AIDS network

  5. ACTIONS LED TOGETHER • Meetings / Workshops (6) • Training sessions (2)

  6. LESSONS LEARNED (1) • MSM need CBOs for specific comprehensive prevention and care services • MSM groups can be easily identified through peers at gay dating locations and gay websites. • Most CBOs face a lack of knowledge about MSM prevention and care, and therefore hardly engage in MSM services.

  7. LESSONS LEARNED (2) • Working “with” and not “for” • Fight against aids and fight for human right are strongly linked : • Sometimes public health argument is much more efficient
