  1. Legal Steps to Take If Someone Misuses Your Aadhaar or PAN Aadhaar and PAN are sensitive identity documents. If someone misuses it you’ll face legal, financial, and even criminal complications unless acted on fast.

  2. File a Police Complaint / FIR Visit your nearest police station File a written complaint/FIR stating how your Aadhaar or PAN was misused Mention any evidence (emails, SMS, transaction alerts, screenshots) Get an acknowledgement copy of the complaint

  3. Report to UIDAI (for Aadhaar misuse) call UIDAI toll-free: 1947 Raise a grievance with full details (your Aadhaar number, incident, complaint ref) You can also lock your Aadhaar biometrics using the mAadhaar app

  4. Report to Income Tax Department (for PAN misuse) Visit www.incometax.gov.in Go to 'e-Filing' → ‘Grievance Redressal’ Submit a complaint under PAN misuse If someone has filed fake returns using your PAN, write to AO (Assessing Officer)

  5. Monitor Your Credit Report Visit credit bureaus: CIBIL, Equifax, Experian Get your credit score Check for any unknown loans or credit card entries Dispute any unauthorized accounts

  6. File a Complaint with RBI / Bank If your PAN/Aadhaar was used to open a bank account/loan: File a complaint at the concerned bank branch Also register complaint with RBI’s Banking Ombudsman

  7. Take Legal Help Immediately Draft a legal notice to the responsible party (if known) File for injunction / damages in a civil court if financial harm occurred Take anticipatory bail if someone misuses your PAN in criminal activity (like illegal companies or money laundering)
