  1. ICBC COUNSELLING

  2. The road to healing is filled with many twists and turns, a notion that’s worrying for those who have experienced the symptoms of trauma. Counselling is oftentimes needed for a patient to slowly acclimate and return to a normal state of life. Other methods such as Neurofeedback and other supportive treatments can also be used to support your healing journey. Need more context as to why you may need our services for car accident trauma and other problems? Let’s go through what Counselling and Neurofeedback can do to help you on your road to recovery.

  3. THE USE OF COUNSELLING THERAPY ICBC uses two different methods of counselling therapy for dealing with multiple kinds of problems and symptoms. We’ll be talking about what they’re used for and how we go about applying the treatment to our patients.

  4. EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR) The first method we use is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR. This form of trauma therapy was developed to aid in the psychological and emotional recovery of a patient after an accident. Using eye movements, a psychologist will help you to process stressful memories while retaining an element of self-control. Desensitization and Reprocessing are done once the treatment plan is ready for execution. The patient will focus on the traumatic memory while the therapist guides you with directed eye movements and other stimulations.

  5. SOMATIC THERAPY Sometimes described as a much more in-depth process of talk therapy, Somatic Therapy aims to bring awareness to the various feelings and emotions that are behind a person’s experience. ICBC and its various methods of concussion counselling involve Somatic Experiencing, a therapeutic method developed by Dr. Peter Levine.

  6. NEUROTHERAPY AT ICBC Neurofeedback is a pain-free process of analyzing the reactions of a patient to specific prompts and stimuli. These reactions are then noted and sent to professional therapists so that patients can learn why they’ve reacted in that way. This helps them understand the root of the problem and may even unveil underlying problems that they’ve never noticed before.

  7. At ICBC Counselling, we make use of Direct Neurofeedback to analyze a patient’s brainwaves by encouraging slightly faster frequencies. This helps to see how the brain is capable of self-correcting in the face of problematic behavior. Held as a 25-minute session with no need for the patients to focus, this method aims to provide noticeable effects by the 3rd session. However, there are cases where more sessions are needed to fully utilize the benefits of the system.
