AB 2176 aims to promote waste reduction in large venues and events by requiring them to develop waste reduction plans and implement recycling programs. Large events are defined as those averaging 2,000 attendees daily, while large venues maintain the same attendance average for employees and visitors. Local governments are tasked with providing guidance, reporting progress, and ensuring adequate space for recyclables. Compliance and reporting to the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) are crucial, with resources and training materials available to support effective waste management strategies.
