  1. Choosing a full-service foundry in the USA!

  2. Many people think that most of the foundry and casting work has been shipped offshore. Meaning that there are no more companies offering any kind of iron casting services here in the United States. The truth can not be far from this. There are still numerous companies that operate foundries in the USA, not just for their own use but also for customers who may be looking to get casting work done from an external vendor. You can easily find a company offering everything from simple pig iron casting to the advanced gray iron casting process and even full-blown steel making of specialized grades. If you are looking to get a local vendor, here are a few things that every full-service foundry should offer if you choose them!

  3. Foundry in USA Machining is one of the very basic services that a foundry in USA offers through in-house machine shops. It will not only allow you to get the casting done for a near-final product but also get the finished product fine-tuned right there in the same place. The company may also offer heat-treating services. While in-house services will always be best, contracted services could also play a vital role in the process. All services like annealing, hardening, quenching, tempering, and stress relieving should be available. This will allow you to get the ideal ductility and even chemical changes to the materials done before any further production steps can be taken. Chemical analysis and tensile strength studies should be available through independent labs. Also, your foundry should be able to make and send bars, pieces, or ingots for further testing and lab analysis. This is because such studies can have a major impact on the final product and its factors, including fit, finish, and durability.

  4. Gray Iron Casting Process Pattern design, repair, and modification works involved in the gray iron casting process are typically offered at a foundry. The basic work should be done on-site, while the advanced tasks like redesigning and retooling should are sent to relevant contractors. This allows you to make most changes on the fly and optimize the production process with ease. For the finished product that comes off after casting and machining, the painting or coating should be available onsite or through contracted vendors. Finally, material testing and certification processes like Brinell Hardness Testing should also be provided onsite.
