Where did Football originate from? • Football started in many areas all over the world. The Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Ancient Greek, Persian, Vikings, and many more people played a “ball” game from very old, ancient times ago. But, football started to really take shape in England in the 11th century when some English workers were digging and found a skull of a Danish soldier. They started to kick the skull to each other as a sign of happiness, and that is how the idea of the game was created.
Who developed the first set of rules in Football? Why did they do this? • The first rules of Football were developed by young men in English schools and universities in the mid nineteenth century. They made these rules before each match for both competing teams to follow throughout the match. They developed them so to organize everything in the game because if there were no rules, tons of arguing and fighting would happen as a result of that each person thinking in his own ways so rules would settle everything.
How many countries play Football as their national sport? • The number of countries that play Football as their national sport is summed up in 60 countries such as the South American countries like Brazil and Argentina, Western European countries like Norway and Greece, and Middle Eastern countries including United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. And finally, African nations that involve Egypt, Ghana, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast. Of course there are many other countries, but these are some examples.
Why is Football popular all around the world? • Reason 1: Football is one of the simplest games around the world. The rules are simple. All basic rules are that you can’t use your hands when playing (except if you are a goalkeeper) and use your foot to shoot the ball in the goal. All other rules can be understood within a single match. That is why many people start to learn the game after watching some matches. • Reason 2: Football does not need a lot of equipment to play with. All it needs is a ball and bricks to place the goals. This can be helpful in many poor countries. So soccer is much more easily accessible than many other games such as hockey and baseball. • Reason 3: Football can easily develop hand-eye coordination and foot-eye coordination. It develops hand-eye coordination and foot-eye coordination because professional goalkeepers and defenders can save their net by focusing on the ball by their eyes and reaching to get the ball by their hands and because defenders can also focus on the ball by their eyes and kick it away using their foot.Hand-eye coordination and foot-eye coordination are also connected to focusing that can help in many things such as studying. So soccer would help a student in studying well.
Do you think there are different ways of playing, or styles of Football in different areas of the world? • Of course there would be different styles of soccer. Many countries such as England, Latin American countries, Italian, and Central American countries all have different styles. For example, British players are direct and quick and attack using few touches and and their passes are usually sent over the opponent’s defense. • Latin American countries are good dribblers and are very creative. Their attacks are set by possession, which means that they control the ball, and lots of passes and sometimes individual effort which can help if the opposing team’s defense is very condensed. • Italians are very cautious and pay attention to putting the correct number of players to move forward. They have very unpredictable means of playing since they quickly change positions of players, play balls at different angles, and they use a large variety of skills.
