  1. TRAIL MIX Who were the first people to use Trail Mix?

  2. Ingredients: • 1 cup cereal • 1/3 cup peanuts • ¼ cup raisins • ¼ cup M&M candy • 2 Tablespoons sunflower seeds • 25 mini marshmallows

  3. Directions: • 1. Wash hands. • 2. Place measuring utensils and bowls on tray. • 3. Take tray to measuring table & measure cereal, peanuts, raisins & candy in dry measuring cups. • 4.Measure sunflower seeds in measuring spoons and count marshmallows. Take tray back to your kitchen.

  4. KCSC: • 5. Add everything to a medium-size mixing bowl. • 6. Stir with a wooden spoon. • 7. Place mix in serving bowls. (Eat w/ hands or spoon.) Use manners. • 8.Wash dishes.

  5. 9. Dry dishes and wipe counter & table top. • 10. Put utensils and dishes away. • 11. Inspection by Mrs. Ciboch

  6. What does yield mean? • How much a recipe makes… (examples: 2 dozen cookies, 6-8 servings, 2 loaves of bread)

  7. What kind of ingredients did the pioneers use? • Wild berries • Jerky – deer, buffalo, rabbit • Grain • Nuts

  8. What substitutions could you make at home? • Fruit loops, Chex, Cheerios instead of granola • Cashews, pecans, almonds instead of peanuts • Dried cranberries, apple chips, banana chips instead of raisins • Skittles, gummi bears, runts instead of M&Ms • Pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower seeds
