Simulation Model for Barrel VTX Occupancy Estimates at 200 GeV: January 16, 2004

This document details a simulation model developed for estimating Barrel VTX occupancy under specific conditions using PYTHIA simulations (MSEL=1, PTJet > 10 GeV/c) and HIJING for central AuAu collisions at 200 GeV. It outlines the analysis chain generating VTX signals from GEANT hits without charge sharing. Acknowledgment is given to Manabu Togawa for future code improvements. Rykov January 16, 2004 Simulation model • pp@200 GeV: PYTHIA,MSEL=1, PTJet>10 GeV/c. • Central AuAu@200 GeVNN:HIJING. • PISA withthe current VTX geometry in CVS. • Analysis chain with the primitivegeneration of VTX signals (Rawhits) from GEANT hits (Ghits) with no charge sharing between pixels/strips. Manabu Togawa promised to write some more reasonable code soon. Expect the the things to get worse by a factor of 1.5-2-?? … In the plots: • Column, from left to right= Barrel VTX layer • Upper row= x-strip or pixel channels • Lower row = u-strip channels
