  2. Score for a Cure

  3. What is Cystic Fibrosis? • Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US • It effects the pulmonary and digestive systems of those who have the disease • Currently, there is no cure

  4. What is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation? • The Foundation was created in 1955 with a mission of assuring the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life of those with the disease • More than 91 cents of every dollar of revenue generated by the Foundation is invested in CF research, education, and care programs. • Since the Foundations inception the average life span has increased more than 30 years.

  5. What is Score for a Cure? • Through a joint effort between Buffalo United Soccer Club and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Score for a Cure will enable your child(ren) to both become more educated about cystic fibrosis and to use their talents to give back to their community. • The program will encourage players to collect donations to help support life-saving CF research and care.

  6. How Does Score for a Cure Work? • Each athlete that participates will be asked to obtain at least 3 sponsors • These sponsors will have two options • To give a flat donation • To pledge an amount based on the number of goals the team scores for the season

  7. How Score for a Cure Works, Cont. • Your child will then turn their sponsor information in to the Score for a Cure volunteer on your team • This volunteer will send each form they receive to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation • At the end of the Upstate Premier League Season, the number of goals the team scores will be recorded and letters will be sent out from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to your sponsors

  8. Then What? • As the money is sent into the Foundation, thank you letters and tax deduction letters (for all donations over $50.00) will be sent from the Foundation

  9. Incentives • Aside of the opportunity to give back to the community, your child will be eligible for prizes based on how much they earn • Each athlete who raises $100.00 will receive a BUSC/Cystic Fibrosis T-Shirt • The Female/Male athletes who raise the most money will earn large prizes • Other prizes to be determined • The team who raises the most money will receive a pizza party

  10. So What Do You Need to Do? • All that your child has to do is get people to sponsor them. The more sponsors they enlist increase their chance of earning prizes • After that: • Encourage your child to have fun, learn a lot and use the skills they are being taught by their coaches….the goals will follow!
