Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:10-10:45 Tuesday 11:40-12:15 We eat lunch each day from 12:50-1:25 Students may bring a healthy snack they get hungry before lunch!

School Hours • The school doors open at 7:50 a.m. • Please call the attendance office if your child is going to be absent. • If your child is absent, please send a note excusing them for the absence when they return to school. • Dismissal is at 3:1o P.M.each day.

  10. School Compacts Clear expectations for the teacher, student and family about school One copy will stay at school and one will go home The goal is to increase school/home communication and express important school behaviors throughout the year.

Homework • Weekly math and reading homework • Occasional science and social studies homework (studying for quizzes and tests) • Homework grades in the Tuesday folder and on the report card are an average of homework in both classes • Students are responsible for writing homework in their planner and bringing home materials • Homework should never result in tears. Please text or call until 8:00 with any questions. • Projects throughout the year

Discipline • Notification by phone call, text, email, or weekly Tuesday Folder • Incidents will be handled in class before the principal to deter office referrals. • Work habits are a combined grade from both teachers • Biggest behavioral issue these first 2 weeks – talking and following directions (using time effectively)

  14. Class Economy Students will participate in a class economy system this year where they will have jobs, pay rent, receive bonuses for designated positive choices, and be ticketed/fined for certain negative choices. This system is designed to teach children financial concepts such as budgeting, balancing a bank account, credit, debt, and monetary responsibility.

  15. School Spirit • Spirit sticks and other new items sold in the school store • Believe and Achieve teams – shirts for sale in the school store for $10 Vaughn is Team Believe (wear purple on Fridays) Anastos is Team Achieve (wear red on Friday)

  16. Bullying • There is a zero tolerance for bullying. • Anti-bullying skills will be taught throughout the year. • Please inform us of any issues that need to be addressed. NO BULLYING!

  17. Gifted and Talented To refer your child for the Gifted & Talented program contact the school counselor, Mrs. Murphy, to request a referral packet. The referral window is August 25th- September 25th

  18. Other Reminders • DI tryouts and other extracurricular clubs are coming soon • Visit the nurse if you have medical concerns or issues. • Sign up to volunteer for the PTO • Parent Conference Day is Monday, October 13, 2014. • Sign up to help with 5th grade appreciation
