  3. Science Word of the Week WORK: A force like a push or a pull applied over some distance. Pushing a desk across the floor is an example of doing work. A push (force) is applied to the desk over some distance across the floor. No work is done if there is a push but no distance is covered, so a student leaning against a wall applies a force but does no work because the wall does not move.

  4. Announcement • It is VERY possible that we will have some VERY DISTINGUISHED guests on campus at some point today. Please pick up trash, tuck in shirts and watch your language. If you see guests on campus today, please speak and welcome them and be extra polite. They are guests that will affect the growth of our school and our new building. BEST BEHAVIOR!!!!

If you intend to try out for the Spartan Cheerleading squad, you must go to the office and sign the sign-up form between classes or during lunch so that we know how many students will be taking the bus to the LC Gym on September 9th and 11th. If you are going to the cheer tryouts, you must get a permission slip for your parents to sign to allow you to take the bus to the tryouts at the LC gym. Former cheerleaders will be allowed to wear their cheer shirts and body liners with jeans this Friday 9/5/14 in order to support the cheer team and its tryouts and show spirit for the school.

  7. Lost and found There are several pairs of glasses in the office. Students have 24 hours to claim them. If no one claims them in 24 hours then they will be thrown away.

  10. Lunch from Wings Hut on Fridays • When: every Friday • Place your order with payment on Thursday, in front of 114 • 5 wings, with your choice of fried rice or French fries $5.00

  11. ALS Challenge O’Connor- $20. Coach-$10 Tredor-0 Gutierrez, M.-0 Davidson-0 Fuksman-0 Danese-0 Federici-0 Brasino-0 Sinski-0 • With 10 homerooms, if each homeroom raised $20 (less than a dollar per student) we would hit $200 easily.

  14. Cheerleading information! September 9th and September 11th are cheer tryouts at LC gym from 4-6! Anyone can come and try out! On September 12th the team will be selected September 16th is the first practice at the school from 3:30 to 5:30. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays. Tuesdays will be at LC Gym from 4-6 and on Thursday practices will be at the school from 3:30 to 5:30.

  16. Big Brothers Big Sisters • September 5th 2014 in Room 109 during lunch • Volunteer Hours will be awarded to students who attend and sign up to volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters • Informational meeting about Volunteer Opportunities with Big Brothers Big Sisters

  21. Coach Beckham is permitting the use of HOPE’s basketballs during lunch again. This is a privilege and can/will be revoked if the balls aren’t put up after lunch.
