  2. Problem: Buildings are Energy Hogs • Little improvement since 1950 on an energy/ft2 basis • Better amenity & more services, but just as energy intensive • Most professional estimates are that buildings waste 30-40% of the energy they pay for

  3. Problem: Building Management is an Orphan • Buildings are a costly hassle for most businesses • Diversion from the business of business • Lack the knowledge for world class operation • At best, real estate is an appendage • A cottage industry created within the business • Lack flexibility in manpower • Lack technology to significantly improve processes • Lack buying power for massive discount purchases • Extremely poor inventory control (80% of inventory obsolete)

  4. Problem:Building Operators are Overloaded • Building operators have inadequate resources • Few facility management man- hours • Low maintenance budget • Low energy budget • (Often) Inadequate expertise

  5. Dashboards: “The Cause of Problems is Solutions” • They ADD to the problem of too much to do • Even if there is time, operators often lack necessary expertise • Unfortunately, dashboards can’t run buildings! 5
