  1. Which Is More Suitable for the Control over Large Scale Optical Networks, GMPLS or OpenFlow? WangLingdong 1120349020

  2. 1. GMPLS and PCE based control architecture Traffic Engineering Databases Path Computation Element Resource Computation Element Open Shortest Path First Connection Controller control plane nodes Figure.1 GMPLS and PCE based control architecture

  3. Proceduce of lightpath provisioning Step1:CC transfers request to PCE. Step2:PCE1 computes domain sequence. Step3:PCE1 computes local domain path. Step4:PCE1 returns result to source CC. Step5:source CC triggering signaling. Step6:PCE2 finishes step3 to step5 in the second domain. ……. Step7:The last PCE conducts same action

  4. 2. OpenFlow based control architecture Resource Management Element Resource Computation Element Traffic Engineering Database Figure.2 OpenFlow based control architecture

  5. Procedure of lightpath provisioning Step1:First Child-Controller receive request from edge node or client. Step2:First Child-Controller PCE1 determines if destination in local domain. Step3:It tranfers request to Father-Controller in destination in another domain. Step4:Father-Controller gain domain sequence and sends to Child-Controllers. Step5:Child-Controller finishes path computation and resource reservation along the domain sequence parallel.

  6. 3. Experimental result and analysis Figure. 3 Simulation topology with 1000 nodes

  7. Figure. 5 (a) Blocking probability (b) Wavelength utilization

  8. Figure. 5 (c) Average lightpath setup time

  9. 4. Conclusion Two control architectures for large scale optical networks are experimental demonstrated on a topology with 1000 nodes. Some typical network parameters are gained from the two testbeds. Numeric results show that OpenFlow architecture shows better performance than GMPLS architecture in large scale multi-domain optical networks.
