  3. 1b Tony reports to you. He was supposed to deliver a report to the QA department last Friday.

  4. 1c When you spoke with Tony last week, he said he’d be able to submit the report ahead of schedule. You recall seeing him leave work early on Friday afternoon.

  5. 1d You just found out that the report was never delivered to QA. It’s now two business days overdue.

  6. 1-choice Your first priority is to set a safe tone so Tony feels comfortable talking with you about the problem. Review the options and select the one that best sets the tone. I noticed you blew out of work early. Didn’t you care about your commitment to finishing the report? The QA Manager just told me that she never got the report. Now I’ll have to try to make amends with her. I found out the QA report was never submitted. I want to understand what happened so we can make it right.
