  3. Objectives • All of you should be able to identify and describe possible embedded systems • Most of you should be able to explain one reason in favour and one against using embedded systems. • Some of you should be able to define embedded system.

  4. Image • Individually: You will open the image in Laboratorio_Uno/ITGS2/Embedded/ • Look and read all the embedded computer examples. Then identify and describe two other embedded computers different from the ones showed in the image. (5 min)

  5. Pairs discussion • In pairs: Share your embedded computers and discuss the following questions: (5 min) • What things do you posses that use an embedded computer. • Which market is bigger, embedded computers or personal computers? • What things could benefit from having an embedded system?

  6. Describing limitations • Individually: Describe one limitation of the use of embedded systems for brake control like ABS. (3 min)

  7. Reasons against and in favour • Embedded systems, such as those used in MP3 players, are commonly found in many consumer products such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and cars • Individually: Identify one advantage and one disadvantage of using embedded systems in a refrigerator. (3 min)

  8. Discuss embedded systems in refrigerators • In groups: You will share your adv/disadv and discuss weather we should keep on using them or ban them. • Everyone should be able to explain the rest of the class the groups conclusion. • Support your conclusion with the two most important arguments. (10 min)

  9. Individually • Write a definition for embedded systems. • Remember definitions always worth two marks, so be sure you write two important ideas in your definition.
