Backup, Bandwidth, Bounce Rate, Browser • Backup- A backup refers to a copy of data which saves the files of a website. It helps to restore data when there is data loss. Manual as well as automatic backups can be configured. • Bandwidth- Bandwidth is the amount of data that is transferred to or from a web server in a given time. It indicates the amount of traffic that a website can facilitate. • Bounce Rate- Bounce rate refers to the volume of visitors to a website that leave within a very short duration. A high bounce rate indicates either of, or all of, these facts that either the quality of page is low and/or the purpose of the page doesn’t match with what the visitors are looking for. • Browser- A browser refers to an application software, which is used to access the Internet. CGI, Cloudlet, Control Panel, CMS • CGI- CGI is the abbreviation for Common Gateway Interface. It is a program that serves to translate a web server’s data. It displays that data on a web page or in an email. • Cloudlet- A cloudlet is a small-scale cloud data center, which is mobility-enhanced, and located at the edge of the Internet. Its function is to support resource-intensive mobile applications. • Control Panel- Web hosting companies provide control panels for enabling the management of web hosting accounts. A control panel is a web-based interface through which customers can manage their hosting services in a single interface. • CMS- CMS is the abbreviation for Content Management System. It runs in the backend for managing content. It aids in posting content on a website as well as in adding a new theme to a website. Examples of some popular CMS are WordPress, Drupal etc.

In it, the entire resources of a server are meant for a single website that is hosted on it. It can be both, Windows-based and Linux-based. • Dedicated IP- An IP address is assigned to every domain name. A dedicated IP refers to a unique address on the Internet, which is exclusively dedicated for the use of a single hosting account. Sites that have a dedicated IP address perform better in search engine results when compared to those that have shared IP. • Disk Space- Disk space refers to the amount of server space that is allocated to a domain name. It is expressed in KB, MB, GB; wherein 1KB is 1024 bytes, 1MB is 1024 KB, 1GB is 1024 MB.
DKIM, DNS • DKIM- DKIM is the abbreviation for DomainKeys Identified Mail and is a method for email authentication. It aids in detecting email spoofing. • DNS- DNS is the abbreviation for Domain Name System. It translates domain names into numerical IP addresses, which can be understood by computers. It is a decentralized naming system, which is hierarchical, and is meant for resources that are connected to the Internet.
Domain Aliases, Domain Registrar, Domain Privacy, Domain Transfer • Domain Aliases- A domain alias refers to a domain name that points to some other domain. It is used for accessing the same website via many different web addresses. • Domain Registrar- A domain name is registered by a domain registrar. When a domain name is purchased it needs to be registered for it to be linked with one’s IP address. • Domain Privacy- Domain privacy, which is often referred to as Whois privacy, keeps the contact information of the registrant confidential by replacing his/her information in the WHOIS with a forwarding service’s information. This service is provided by many domain name registrars. • Domain Transfer- Domain transfer is the process that is meant for changing the registrar of a domain name. When a domain has been transferred, all the relevant information is maintained by the new registrar.
