  3. Generators (Web Statistics Generators) • The log statistics for a user’s web server are compiled by these software applications. cPanel & WHM includes three statistics generators. These are- Analog, AWStats, Webalizer. A server’s web statistics and software can be managed by server administrators in the “Statistics Software Configuration” interface in WHM by following the path, WHM -> Home -> Server Configuration -> Statistics Software Configuration.

  4. Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) • It refers to the value that is used by the system to identify a resource. It is somewhat similar to UUID, which is a more common identifier. GUID is mainly used by Microsoft products. • To digress, a website hosting company provides the server space and the necessary technologies that are required to make a website accessible over the Internet. The “Best Website Hosting Company”, the “Best Windows Hosting Company India” and the “Best Cloud Hosting Company” are certain terms that refer to website hosting companies.

  5. GNU Privacy Guard (GnuPG) • It is a suite of tools that serves the purpose of signing and data encryption. The user usually uses these tools for signing emails. A user can create and manage GnuPG keys in the “Encryption” interface in cPanel, by clicking on cPanel -> Home -> Email -> Encryption.

  6. Graceful Reboot It is the method that is meant to store new system information, prior to the shutdown of the server. It is the preferred way for restarting a user’s server. Such a reboot is the opposite of a forceful reboot. WHM interface allows graceful reboots to be performed.

  7. Greylisting It is the service that ensures a server’s protection against spam or unwanted email. When this feature has been enabled, any email that originates from a sender that the server can’t recognize is rejected temporarily by that mail server. It can be enabled by using the “Greylisting” interface in WHM, by clicking on WHM -> Home -> Email -> Greylisting. In the event that the email is licit, the server from which it originated tries to resend it after some delay. The server accepts the email, post a sufficient lapse of time.

  8. 1-800-123 -8156 Whoa! That’s a big number, aren’t you proud?

  9. Gzip It is a program. It is used to compresses files, so that disk space can be conserved. The .gz file extension is used by the compressed files. It reduces transfer times to a minimum. Additionally, it makes it easy to transfer multiple files. Gzip is often used with the tar command by Unix and Linux systems, in order to create a tarball file. Here the .tar.gz file extension is used. A system’s gzip compression level can be set in the “Tweak Settings” interface in WHM, by clicking on WHM -> Home -> Server Configuration -> Tweak Settings.

  10. .Htaccess It is a file that is present in a specific directory. It contains the configuration information of the directory. Such a file might have authentication instructions in it. In the context of websites, its files are stored on the server space that is leased by website hosting companies. Terms that indicate a website hosting company are, the “Best Website Hosting Company”, the “Best Windows Hosting Company India” and the “Best Cloud Hosting Company”.

  11. .Htpasswd It refers to a file that exists in a specific directory where an .htaccess file is also present. An .htpasswd file has encrypted password information in it from the time when the authentication for the directory had been set up by the owner.

  12. Hello It refers to a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) command. It is sent by an email server or client in order to identify itself at the time when it connects with some other email server. This command begins the process where an email is sent, which is followed by the server’s domain name being sent. This command is usually used by older email clients. That is because such clients do not need service extensions.

  13. Home Directory It refers to the highest-level directory of a cPanel account. It has all the files and directories that are used by the account’s websites. The files in a home directory cannot be viewed by the visitors until these exist in the public_html directory or in one of its subdirectories.

  14. Horde Webmail It is a webmail client in cPanel & WHM. With its aid users can check emails through a browser. Horde can be used in the Webmail interface in cPanel. Custom Horde data behavior is included in cPanel & WHM.

  15. Hostname It refers to a server’s human-recognizable name across the Internet. It is unique. The server hostname is distinct from the user’s domain name. A server’s hostname can be specified or changed by system administrators in the “Change Hostname” interface in WHM, by clicking on WHM -> Home -> Networking Setup -> Change Hostname.

  16. Hotlink (Inline Link) It is that direct link which embeds a file (a video or an image) from a user’s site into another website. In the event that another site embeds a user’s files, the user’s bandwidth is used by it to serve those files.  Hotlinking can be prevented by accessing the “Hotlink Protection” interface in cPanel, by clicking on cPanel -> Home -> Security -> Hotlink Protection.
